Chives are members of the Allium family, closely related to onions, shallots, leeks and garlic. Not surprisingly, chives have a delicate onion and garlic flavour and are a perfect addition to salads, vegetables cheese and eggs.

The origins of chives may be from Siberia, China or Greece however, they are easily found wild around Europe and America.

Chives are a good source Vitamin A, Vitamin C and folate
